【Wood around Azamikubo Pond 】 July 2001 Oil Paining 15F 65.2×53.0cm Lakhan |
A wood beside the pond of Azamikubo-numa in the Musashi-Kyuryo Government Owned
Forest Park where a path of Ancient Kamakura Road goes through.
It was extroadinary hot in the summer of 2001 with the temperature renewing the
past hottest record of the previous year. In the previous year of 2000, the
hottest record of the temperature since its recording had started in Kumagaya
had been renewed, but that was renewed again only one year after in 2001, and yet, day by day.
I drew this picture on such a day in mid July when the record of
the hottest temperature was renewed by 39.6℃ at Hatoyama-Town ,not so far from this park.
The sun beams streaming through the leaves of the trees looked like burning the spotted ground
to smoke with fire. Even mosquitoes looked like harbouring behind the leaves or under vegitations
to avoid the sunbeam. I painted this picture for 4~5 hours including the noon but without
seeing any other persons.
