【Summer Wood in Tonoyama, Okegawa City】 July 2000 Oil Painting 15F 53.0×65.2cm Lakhan |
This wood is located in Kamihideya, Okegawa City, along the boundary between the
a housing complex and field where habitants cultivate for their family.
On 9, 13, 16 in July, 2000, I visited this wood early in the morning before taking breakfast
to draw its landscape in this picture. The trees in this picture are those of
deciduous oaks like Quercus serrata, Quercus acutissima which shed their leaves late in autumn and are typical of
the wood vegitations of Musashino.
These wood vegitations are easy to transit once people give up silvicultural maintenance
activities like as thinning or removal of invading evergreen small trees which grow up to take
over the wood vegitations soon.
