【Buding Wood in Simoakasaka, kawagoe City】 April 2000 Oil Painting 15F 53.0×65.2cm Lakhan |
Kawagoe, used to be prosperous as a center of commodity transportation
for Edo ( old name of Tokyo more than 100 years ago) where Grand General
resided in Edo-age, today resumed its reputation for its preserved
traditional architectual memorials so called "Kura-Zukuri" and more than
millions of people visit every year to see and enjoy it.
Althoug, it hasn't yet been widely known, Kawagoe, particularly the southern part of it, is rich in green fields of
deciduous oak wood, the leaves of which provide high quality organic manure
for field agricultures.
The wood of this picture is located in Simoakasaka, provablly most thouthern
area of the city, which I visited Feb 26, 2000 to look for sketching site and
started it on April 16 to complete it on April 22.
Like this picture, in Musashino, woods are located in agrecultural fields
shaping mosaic structure because such woods is silviculturally grown and
maintained by farmers in order to obain fermented organic manure for
traditional sustainable agriculture which has been lasting since more than 400 years ago.
