More than 300 years ago, the lord of Kawagoe "Yoshiatu Yanagisawa" in the period
of Genroku of Edo Age he played a role of Secretary of 5th General "Tunayosi"
developed "Santomi New Farms".
The invited fermers inhabited along this street building their houses
now so called "Zelkova Street" located in Miyoshi Town, Saitama Pref.
The Zelkova trees around their houses form splended row of trees.
The rods of branches have completely lost the leaves in December.
The fallen leave gathering around besides the street are occationall blown up
by the cold wind. This area is a growing district cultivating sweet potato
known as "Kawagoe Sweet Potato" several banners for which add colors to the
bleak winter scenery.
