【Oak Wood in Sakata, Okegawa City】
        May 2000 Oil Painting 15P 65.2 × 50.0cm Lakhan

On May 5, 2000, it was a children's day with clear fine blue sky. I carried the painting materials with me to the wood located at "Sakata" in Okegawa City . There used to be more wood in Sakata of rather large colony, however, most of them were cut into smaller reduced habitats due to recent rezoning enterprize by the local government. I started painting early in the morning and continued till 4 O'clock in the afternoon without taking lunch and finished it on May 22. I found this wood was not only a habitat for the oak trees but also a territory for two well sun burnt children. I had to leave my tools for their inspection which had drawn their strong interest. The street in this picture is provablly rather old historical way which we could see everywhere in Musashino only a few decades ago beside such a wood sourounding farmers old residence. Those streets are easy to vanish once new town is developed by rezoning.。。
